I am an avid fan of paper.  I prefer to read all my books and such in paper form.  However, I don't have a single printed character sheet.  The character sheets on this site are very good.  There is another site that hosts character sheets, but the name escapes me now (myth weavers or something like that I think.)

In any case, you should be able to find tons of character generators, however I am relatively certain all of them will print in different formats.  You could take loads of time and overlay input boxes on a formated PDFs, but that requires more patience than I have.  I personally think the printed character sheet is a dying bread and will not be around too much longer.  But then again, I only play online...

I do need to get the sheets here printable though. Some people still like a tangible sheet (and some still use minis!)
Ah yes good ol minis. I used to paint them back in the day...

Speaking of Character Generation, there's a beta of the Character Builder that WOTC has just released. It only goes up to level 3, but hey, it's pretty spiffy I think. Here's a link: http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/insider/characterbuilder

It shouldn't require Insider status to download either.

It doesn't require Insider status no thankfully.  Looks alright as well although it doesn't appear to be anything a regular programmer couldn't come up with faster (and probably cheaper).  There does appear to be a few bugs left to be worked out with it.  Such as an apparent breakdown if you select a Background that gives your character a weapon proficiency that their chosen class already has.

It does also allow you to make 'houserule' characters using stats, skills, etc outside the normal rules.

Thanks for that heads up there. I thought the Character Generator from Wizards was only for Insiders. I didn't bother trying it because of that. Now I realize that it isn't just for them and I have been curious about it this whole time. Thanks again.

Well now how is WotC going to con you into spending you money to become an Insider without teasing you with things like this?  Roll Eyes

DDI really wants me to buy it, it really tries, but I just can't see myself shelling out that amount of money for that material when I can purchase a month of DDO cheaper. Wink

The Character Generator is awesome.  Last time I tried it before this, it was total crap and this site had a better one. :p

Even though the company just laid off several of it's employees and has driven a stack into some of it's fan bases hearts, the company still seems to be following it's plan and doing quite well at it.

Mmmm, steak. I hope Wizards drives me some steak. That'd get me to continue subscribing to DDI for sure.

Now that's a marketing idea.  In addition to all the other goodies that Insider status offers, subscribers also get one 3lb Allen Brothers steak every month!  Win!

I'm in! I don't know who the Allen Brothers are, but 3 lbs of steak for $15 is a good deal!
