well this is nothing major or anything it just struck me kinda weird is all.  After I created a campaign i got the message  "transaction completed"  thats something I would expect to hear if I just bought something but not if I just created my D&D campaign you know what I mean?

Maybe you might want to change the wording on that to make it feel less like a purchase and more like you just created a work of art or something.

Just a thought...

also I did notice that you can send join requests to yourself if you are the gm.  For instance in "my test campaign"  I sent myself a join request and accepted myself.  I now show up as the gm of the campaign and on the player list.  I don't know if you want it this way or not I just thought I would mention that incase you didnt want it that way.

I had allowed up to 99 players to join my campaign and I did notice that it went down to 98 after I joined so the count down of open spots feature does work right it appears.

also I wanted to add that if you tick the online indicator on your own profile you can send yourself private messages.  I have never noticed myself being able to do this on any other forum but maybe I just missed it.  still kinda weird.   Grin

Thanks for the feedback - thats the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

Good point on the 'Transaction Complete' - just database terminology but you;re right - it could be more exciting Smiley

The sending Join Requests to yourself was intentional but I wasn't sure to do it or not. I thought maybe a GM might actually want to play a PC in their game too. Then when PC groups are created his PC could also be grouped. Eventually messages on the message board (the campaign boards, not these ones) will only be visible to players in the group the post was meant for. i.e. if the party splits up in a dungeon you can send the separate messages and neither group will know whats happening to the other Grin

I'll check on the dates on the forum - entering 9999 may have been the cause though. Don't worry too much about testing these forums, this is commercial grade software, not something I built.

I like the idea of allowing yourself to join the game. It would allow me to play NPC's in my game, or even log in "as a PC" to verify what they can and cannot see. I always like having the ability to see things as my users see them. I guess it's my years of computer support.

ahh I see, I didnt know if it was intentional or not but it was something that I thought was worth mentioning.  I understand your thinking on it though and like your idea however.

whenever I sent you a join request to one of your campaigns PK did you see anything weird with the way the text wraps on the message I sent with the request?  on mine I filled the field with characters and I only recieved one line of text when I opened the invite as a gm.  one long line of text that stretched all the way off the page but it didnt show it all so maybe thats something you might want to look at.

PK I declined your join request to "My test campaign"  I used the "declined for no reason" option.  Send me some more if you want and I will decline under the other options as well.

also something I noticed today that when you are creating extra groups for characters on your campaign when you enter numerics in the name field it will not wrap and will continue off the page.  when you enter alphabetical text it appears that it does like it should.  See "My test campaign" ----> groups  to see what I mean.

also I did notice that when you are on the main my DnD homepage if you click "profile" under your name it doesnt go anywhere it just refreshes the home page.  You probably just dont have a profile section up yet but I thought I would mention it.

I don't know if this was said and I'm not sure where it can go.

After accepting a player, I went to edit the options for the player.  There wasn't many options to change, like change the group, but only one group.  I'm still hunting to see if I make those or request to have them made.

More importantly, I noticed that the screen split funny.  I couldn't see the campaign or other players on the right side.  It won't let me scroll to see them, either.  I'm using Mozilla Firefox version 2.0.0.14.

Mith - can u attach a screen shot to the post. I develop in FF and haven't seen this. I usually find I didn't account for something in IE Smiley

Player managing  features are sparse at the moment. Will add more once the character sheets (at least generic sheet) is ready since it will populate with data from the character too.

On topic but not the recent question, I would like to see a "Main" button on the page where you "Manage" the campaign.

If you are just turning on the Wiki, Boards or Blog pages, you have to look for your campaign on the side. Might be nice to just have a "Main" button at the top after you "Update" or have the "Update" button go to the main, afterwards.  Smiley

Going to start blogging the 4th ed. game we started playing, last night and was noticing that lack of functionality when I was managing the new campaign.

Yes I started blogging our game and will be filling in the wiki stuff as I can. I need to add RSS feeds for the games. And yes, I've felt the navigation is not totally suitable either. I may simple add a list of links at the top of the sidebar for GMs. Players will still use the 'buttons'.

On another note - adding players. There has to be a way for a GM to add players without the players applying. i.e. our new campaign, not everyone will actively use the site but I'd like to add them to the player roster all the same. So I think I'll make the application process an alternate method of adding players, the other is simply to input them yourself. In the player manager I'll think of a way to assign a player to a character or have a player submit one or the GM add one to the player themselves.

What if you have a email form that goes to the player saying they have been added to the game <"Title"> and the link to the game from mydndgame.com?

Then some text saying "if you think you have been added in error, you can remove yourself from this game at <the remove page for the game>.
